so i've had a brilliant couple of days. putting effort into my exams payed off in such a way that i got post exam relief euphoria for the first time ever, and the ensuing celebrations have been marvelous. woop.

isn't it brilliant? the land of nod. where your dreams are true for a few warped hours. marvellous. the things i've achieved in sleep put the things i've really achieved to shame. have you ever woken up and thought "hock dam i wish this were the dream and that was reality!"? i have. and i'm not alone. i hope.
but in reality, this is an aimless dream.

what with the mass hysteria about pig flu, i'm gonna try to get ahead of the curve by strapping on a nice face mask. these are gonna be all the rage this summer as people reassure themselves that a small sheet of material is gonna keep them from being dead. here are a few styles you can expect to see in every crevasse of the country where a sorry paranoid pleb is breathing:

ipod white. classy, simple, goes with any hair/eye/shirt colour. bound to be a popular choice.

black canvas. wear this and you can be all like "i'm not scared of pig flu, i just frigging love paintballing".

hi-tech clear plastic. for when they nuke the major cities in a bid to stop the virus spreading when it all goes tits up and gets abit to akin to resident evil. perfect compliment to the 12 gauge you'll also be sporting at this point.

well it seems indielectronica is taking off in a big way this year with the likes of little boots and passion pit getting wide recognition and praise before they've even released their debut albums. i personally like this. i'm also dreaming that this spurs those old patrons of the genre, the postal service, to make a new album. now wouldn't that be lovely. shame its never gonna fucking happen, ey?

but in their absence here are some other bands i'd recommend keeping an eye on:

the new album 'Veckatimest' is pretty much as good as i was hoping it would be. it has been the final piece of factual evidence i was waiting for so that i could make this statement without it being unfounded: "2009 is better than 2008 ever was already."
note that this sentence may be subject to change if the proceedings of 2009 starting getting shit.
i am talking culturally of course, because some major global events that have happened this year are really shitty, but most of these bad things technically started in 2008.

but thanks to the weather, and grizzly bear, i feel so good at the moment, and i'm being positive and hopeful and i think i'm going to have a good year, and (so that this post doesn't seem so selfcentered) i hope that you (the imaginary reader) have a good year also.

so i'm deciding to try to live every day like new years day and try to live every night like new years eve. i will undoubtedly fail at this, but it gives me an excuse to be resolute everyday and not need an excuse to try new things that seem good and stop doing not so new things that are not so good.

and so today's resolution is: to write my blog rather not write my blog.

so it might actually be worth reading now.

The curtains are never thick enough. I'm staring at pure sunlight wondering why I'm awake at all, because its a curious situation. Why do I wake up? Wake up to a cycle of failure and longing not to fail, but what am I really hoping for? Ambition, contentment and fulfillment, like everyone else, but these three are at odds and this lowly conclusion will always haunt my mornings and ruin my fucking day.
So I succumb and get up under the misguided impression its worth it. Its never worth it and I'm slowly falling in love with the figures in my dreams; the women are always so much more beautiful - I don't mean physically but in the way they put up that perfect level of resistance that makes me try just hard enough to become interested and then give up and allow me to take them. A different lover every night, but it's usually the same girl, with details changed depending upon the day I had before. Maybe that's why my dreams are so monotonous.
But I am not that handsome gentleman nor that sophisticated brute consuming all those hearts and lifetimes. I am slowly losing all I have. I sacrificed my ambition a long time ago in the pursuit of a contempt that never filled me. I put my ambition off until a tomorrow that i fear now has become yesterday. Not that I care that much, as existence interests me enough now as it is.
I have more interest in the living things around me than myself, but to say that is to lie. Still I like to watch the people go about and pretend I can't be seen, that I'm a ghost among them drifting between them. Not that I'm not sociable. I'm no loner. I have many friends whom I love in some form or another, but out here no one can reach me - and by out here I mean everywhere. I'm in a state of removal that won't ever change so I don't mind it anymore. Life is just something you learn to live with.
